Like many isolated rural villages, Blinkwater in the Eastern Cape, has never had access to any electricity. A plan supported by the United Nation Development Program was developed to create a hybrid mini grid system to provide electricity to the community. This will make a huge impact on the lives of the residents of the village. It will add to their economic opportunity, quality of life, connectivity and communication.

The Kestrel water pumping solution is a cost-effective and versatile option for pumping water in areas where grid electricity is unavailable or unstable. The solution provides efficient water delivery from a wind speed as low as ±3m/s and delivers up to twice the water volume of a traditional windmill.
