Global Wind Day

Global Wind Day, celebrated on the 15th of June since 2009, is a global event that brings people together to honour the power and potential of wind energy. The European Wind Energy Association initiated this day in 2007 and, in 2009, joined forces with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) to make Wind Day a worldwide celebration.

To emphasise the potential of wind energy to transform energy systems, reduce carbon emissions, and impact the world.

Why do we celebrate Global Wind Day?

Wind energy is a sustainable and cost-effective source that reduces reliance on fossil fuels. It covers about 5% of global electricity consumption and is projected to reach 9% of the world’s electricity demand by 2030. Global Wind Day promotes the use of wind energy in daily life and business.
